Adel El Siwi is a self-taught artist and doctor, who is one of the most famous Egyptian contemporary artist’s alive. El Siwi is known for painting elongated faces, drawing inspiration from the Pharaonic face, the African mask, and Fayum portraits. Some faces entice, others menace, and in many of El Siwi’s works the artist inspects the bonds shared between animals and humans.
