Amos Odion starts his sculptures from a single block of wood. He chisels away until the wood forms abstract or humanoid figures. The sculpture surfaces are texturized and usually quite large. His work embodies cultural references and his sense of humor in their stocky proportions.
Odion has been commissioned to make pieces for the Economic Commission for Africa Headquarters, Ethiopia, and Unilever Headquarters, London, His work has been shown in India, Nigeria, Bulgaria, Senegal, Germany, and Pakistan
