Evans Mbugua works with glass or perspex to create layered portraits, with prints composed of many small dots forming dazzling backgrounds which he calls pictograms. These pictograms are inspired by the shapes and rhythms of urban environments, lending a modern and playful atmosphere to his work.
Evans Mbugua’s works are held in institutions and private collections in France, the UK, Italy, the United States, Denmark, Nigeria, Morocco, and Kenya. His latest solo shows include Dialogue (2017), Gallery of African Art (GAFRA), London.
