(Born in 1945 in Amman, Jordan. Lives and works between Beirut and Amman.)
Mona Saudi has been sure about her desire to be an artist since she was 17. Her style has been consistent since she started creating in 1963, saying “I found my own way in my art from my first sculpture…there’s no time to waste.” Her subject is life, rooted in the earth, creating thick forms that segue into small apertures. Saudi grew up around ancient Roman public baths, and her work is infused with myths and remnants of ancient cultures.
Saudi has had solo shows in Lebanon, Dubai, the UK, Morocco, Kuwait, France, and the USA. She has participated in group shows in Egypt, Norway, Russia, and her work is part of collections at the Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE, The British Museum, UK, Assila Museum, Morocco, and the Ministry of Culture in Egypt, among others.
