(Born in 1980 in Togo. Lives and works in Togo.)
Pierre Segoh is a self-taught artist who started painting at a young age. His father would install voodoo rituals which informed the colors that Pierre later used in his work. He uses pastels, crayons, and Indian ink on canvas, wood, and paper. Segoh’s focus is the head, the most important part of the body that holds the most value to him. He creates masks and figures that are half-man, half-animal, starting all his pieces with the age-old method of drawing (sketching).
Segoh has had exhibitions and open ateliers in African cities such as Accra, Lome, Ouagadougou, and Cotonou.
