(Born in 1976 in Nigeria. Lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria.)
Tolu Aliki is a self-trained artist known for the way he renders the human form, using bold colors on a flattened picture plane. Aliki’s figures are monumental in character and emotion. His portraits are inspired by the concepts of love, music, family, and the daily political and cultural issues people face in Nigeria. While he explores various media, Aliki works primarily in oil pastels and acrylics to bring his playful portraits to life.
Aliki has had numerous solo exhibitions in Nigeria including Intimate Moments in 2011, Alpha One Tower in 2018, and Lagos and Evolution in Portugal. His works continue to gain international recognition.
